A Few Notes About Our Seed Products

All seed offered on this web site is fresh.  We use no fillers or other items to make our products "look" like more than they are.

All of our products have been extensively tested before ever being offered to you.  We've worked with tortoises and turtles in a professional capacity for more than 15 years, have 32 years of hands-on experience, and have conducted extensive research all over the globe.

Additionally, all seed is test sprouted before it's offered for sale, ensuring you of the highest quality.

Some seed may not sprout immediately.  This is due to the several factors:

*We do not use chemicals on our seed in order to make it "sprout faster." Healthy seed should sprout without adding chemicals, provided you are planting in a good quality soil.

*Hormones and innoculants are often used by seed companies to mask inferior quality seed, something you'll never have to worry about when ordering from us.

*Seed is often seasonal dependent, meaning that if the right conditions aren't met, it might not be the right time for that particular seed to sprout... yet.  Many (desert) seeds may stay in a dormant stage until conditions are "right" for the seed to germinate.

Also, please remember, more in a mix is not always better, and with tortoises, offering too much of any one item can result in metabolic bone disease, pyramiding, bladder stones, and renal failure.

This photograph is a result of a vegetarian diet which contained too much alfalfa,  supermarket produce, excessive clover, and other legumes.  It was taken out of  a 10 pound, 20 year old desert tortoise.

This is a bladder stone.  It ruptured the bladder of the tortoise.
This tortoise needlessly died a long, unnecessary and  painful death from a
SUBSTANDARD DIET.
